Ron Mahler has been the pastor of Highland Lakes Community Church in Minden Ontario, since its inception in 2007. Ron has been married to (Sharon) Elaine Telford for fifteen years and they have two children: Cassidy (10) and Dakota (8).
Ron has been following Jesus Christ as his Saviour, since he was 24, and entered the ministry as a Bible College graduate and youth intern, in 1996. Ron is still passionate about teaching/preaching, ministering to people, and relationally impacting and reaching those who are spiritually distant (or lost) from Christ.
Ron was born to draw, as if he “came out of the crate” with a pencil in his hand! He is a very gifted artist and could easily have been an accomplished illustrator at this point in his life.
Ron is also talented in the area of music, can carry a decent tune, and plays two instruments (one shouldn’t be surprised, then, to hear that he is also a distant relative of the classical composer Gustav Mahler!)
Ron is also a great sports fan and you can often catch him yelling at the TV (okay, maybe sometimes) on a Sunday afternoon, as a die-hard football fan cheering on his beloved New England Patriots.
Ron is the youngest of six children (three boys, three girls) all R’s and L’s. Ron and his family lost their brother Richard, who accidently died when he was 4 years old. Ron’s father passed away in December 2006; his mother is in her 81st year!
Ron loves the church and counts it an unbelievably humbling privilege to be a pastor. He loves to read and to learn, and plans to begin a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) in the near future.
A second book, by the way, is already in the preliminary stages….!
